Nothing Here Started Here
5 stops · 1 h 20 min · 2.9 km
Almost nothing on this route was made for the place it stands. An Egyptian obelisk already fourteen centuries old when the Romans first moved it, and which drowned six men getting here. A national gallery wearing Marble Arch's sculptures on the site of the king's stables. A dictionary assembled from quotations copied onto slips of paper. And a Wren gate taken apart into two thousand seven hundred numbered stones, exiled to a Hertfordshire park for a hundred and twenty-three years, and bought back for a pound. About an hour and a half, station at each end, and it walks from either one.
Walk it either way
There is a station at each end, so this walk works in both directions — the guide reorders the route and retells the stops to match the way you are going.
